Overview

The capstone explored how RealWear HMT-1 wearable devices could support Eli Lilly engineers and scientists in laboratory environments, with a focus on live transcription and hands-free data capture.

The challenge

Laboratory work often requires a person to document information while their hands and attention are occupied. The project asked whether existing wearable software could make that process more immediate without adding friction.

The team evaluated software options against the needs of real laboratory workflows, considering live transcription, information capture, and the practical constraints of a head-mounted device.

The outcome

The project produced a grounded evaluation for the sponsor and gave the team experience translating an emerging technology into a specific workplace context.
